Cyclops Tunnel Cover Swap from Plastic to Metal?

My cyclops has one of the black plastic tunnel covers. Before it was mine, the plastic was cracked right where the dump valve rod and ball rest on it for support (go figure). So, I rigged it up so it wouldn't fall down through, and always thought I might replace the tunnel cover some day. Has anyone ever swapped the plastic out for the metal version? I see screw placement is different, but would it fit between the fender and dash?

I think the dash cover is different between the plastic and metal. Check the parts site for parts numbers.

I say,,, get a SGT metal tunnel cover, and alter it until it fits,, :bigthink:

With a saw, drill, and hammer, I am sure it will work!! :biggrin2:

Who needs a hammer when I've got a loose hitch plate. That thing works just like my hammer! :BangPC:

PartsTree shows the same panel for 1440 and 1641 serials 821060-880000. I can find lots of images of those models with metal covers. Is there a model that never shipped with plastic covers for comparison?

I switched from the metal one to plastic on my 1541. No problems. You may need to drill new mounting holes. Otherwise they interchange fine.

Thanks for confirming your swap Frank. Was there a reason you went from metal to plastic? I'm considering the opposite.

No real reason, I thought the plastic version looked better.
