Leaky seals in NF hydraulic pump lift
 

It works! But leaks in 2 places. 😪

The unit is rebuilt by me. All new o rings, seals. I guess I installed the seal wrong. Or the belt tension is pulling on the gear shaft allowing slight gap in the seal for fluid to leak, therefore shaft may be worn and that is NLA from cub cadet.

It leaks in 2 places. I tried using 2 o rings and oil seal by the pully shaft. The other leak is by the nut area that holds the reservoir cup. Any suggestions?

I found a seal local, national seals 342805, apparently same size as the original gear shaft seal.

Just throwing this out as it was problem with my former Jeep Cherokee. leaky front axle so took it to the mechanic to fix. Installed new seal. Still leaked.

Long story short, the seal he purchased was manufactured wrong ( literally wrong size ) and leaked like a sieve. Jeep part cured the problem ( didn't use that originally as it was a three day wait for the part)

Spend the extra for "name brand" parts when doing PITA jobs to reduce the chance of having to do it a second time.

If the shaft was worn or had a seal cut from the old seal it's possible the new seal is riding in the same area causing the leak ? I double sealed mine ,as far as the leak at the other end I'm clueless at this point . I attached this link if it works and followed these instructions when I did mine ,so far so good but haven't run it much yet !

That the link I used to find information about the seals I'm going to try to use. But my shaft is worn and I can see it move slightly by the belt tensioning procedure.

Maybe back off on belt tension some if it seems like it's deflecting the shaft, doesn't need a whole lot of tension,try new seals and lube them before sliding shaft through ??

Will do. I was already thinking of backing off the tension to see if it helps. How tight does it should be? 1/2 inch deflection? It didnt say anywhere on the manual about tightness of a belt.

Maybe a speedy sleeve could be used. Pump would have to be disassembled and shaft measured for proper fit good luck

1/2" should be fine on tension. You can experiment a little bit on it with your finger, obviously while the tractor is not running. Looks like you have a nice set up on your cub and once you tweek it, you will wonder how you managed without it!
