New member with 982
Hi everyone,
New to the forum, picked up a 982 from my father last year. He had got it (given to him!) about 10 years ago. The original 19.9hp Ohan was still running but he found when trying to mow it just didn't have much power. When he dug in to the engine he found out one of the crank arms was busted so it was only running on one cylinder, explains the lack of power. Just so happens about the same time he had picked up an old Craftsman FF/24 (again free) that had a good engine but everything else was scrap... so my 982 has been re-powered with its 24hp Onan T260G. He had bought a big John Deere 425 several years ago so the 982 hadn't been used much since then and was just setting so I was able to talk him in to letting me take it. I used it all last year am going to start cleaning it up and trying to get it in better shape. Per my other post will start with new tires and was able to pick up a set of Cub Cadet NOS blades locally, $20 for the set in the original box. Looking for the speed up pull but not having much luck, may need to fabricate something to replace the top 5" pulley with a 4"? Here are a few pics from when I first go it after setting in the barn a while then after I pressure washed it and cleaned up a little. I have one of the side panels but couldn't find the other, really don't fit well with the 24hp motor anyways. http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/p...pictureid=7983 http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/p...pictureid=7984 http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/p...pictureid=7985 http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/p...pictureid=7986 |

Welcome to OCC! Speed up Pull??? As in pulley? Im assuming your talking about when guys change pulleys on belt driven machines to go faster.. Your not gonna find that on this tractor. |
Sorry yes, edited my original post pulley not pull.
Apparently there is a replacement center pulley for the 50C deck that keeps the 5" on the bottom to connect to the other blades and 4" on top to connect to PTO is is suppose to help with increasing blade tip speed. Part number I had found is IH-126393-C1? |
