108 Cab Snow Removal Duty
4 Attachment(s)
Recently, I have been getting my 108 ready for snow removal duty this winter. My plan is to use this tractor for plowing most of the snow this year and use my 149 with a qa42 blower for the deep stuff. So, I decided to get ambitious and make running my cub in the freezing cold a bit more enjoyable first. To that end, I fabricated this cab for it.
I used 1/1” 14gauge square tube for the majority of the framework. It attaches to preexisting holes in the frame in front of the running boards. On the back, it bolts into the bottom part of the sleeve hitch mount on the transaxle. It should be able to be swapped to any wide frame relatively easily. I decided to actually fabricate a normal door for it with hinges instead of the normal zipper deal just to make entry and exit easier. The sides I made at my work out if clear vinyl and they attach with Velcro. The frame has very strong sticky back Velcro on it and the vinyl has Velcro sewed onto it. I was very fortunate to be able to make these sides off the clock, at my work with mostly scrap materials. I also wired up some 4” LED lights on the top for extra visibility at night and included one on the back too on a separate circuit for backing up.
I am very happy with how it turned out and look forward to trying it in the snow. I already have a plow to mount on it when they call for snow. I’ve also mounted some 2 link chains in a set of 10.50 tires that I loaded with 7.5 gallons each of antifreeze. Traction should not be an issue. But, I have a nice homemade weight box I can mount up if needed.
