Custom Grilles?

My 106, like many of yours, is missing it's grille. It's also in the front line of the tractor shed, facing out, where the neighbors have to look at it. She's coming in the shop soon for a little work, and I'm looking for the best farmer fix I can find. I don't have anything lying around that really jumps out at me.

Home depot and other places sell expanded steel. I think a piece large enough to cover is about 10 bucks

That's what was in my 147 when I got it. Wasn't correct but looked OK. I've since eliminated it.

I was thinking about cutting some teeth out of sheet metal or using something out of the ordinary.

Ah.. I see. How about some old alluminum diamond plate? I've sliced a old metal ribbed garbage can and made stuff like this. You want to go all out farm boy fix I suggest you "find" an old stop sign or traffic sign. Notice I didnt say steal one. That's for legal purposes :biggrin2:

Garbage can sounds like it would look pretty neat.

I haven't attempted it yet, but my plan for my 1200, if I ever get to it, is to use a grilled oven shelf from a scrapped kitchen range. Would be similar to those in 122's.

:bigthink: The newer ovens have really cheap grates. However, the older ones had some nice heavy grates. Sounds like a great idea :beerchug:
