Cub Cadet 1650

11 Attachment(s)
Hello,

I just getting a chance to post my first thread. I joined the forum about a week ago, after I received a free running and cutting IH Cub Cadet 1650 in Princeton New Jersey. Its my first IH Cub Cadet and I'm sold. The owner was moving to Maine, did not want to haul this with him and planned on buying a Kubota. At one time he also had a plow and trailer with it, aside from the mower deck and his family had two other cu s prior to the 1650, one being a 102. He listed it free on Craigslist and I was the first response.

It came with the paperwork and the hood side panels and deck cover. I received it from the son of the original owner, I am the documented second owner. It has just over 1100 original hours on it. The unit is in overall great mechanical condition. It will need new Iso motor mounts as the unit rattles plenty. He just put new front tires on it recently, but his mechanic said the rims were rusted where the bead seals, so the air slowly leaks out, so I will have to clean up the rims or add tubes. It will need new front wheel bearings.
He said fuel leaks at the tank petcock, but I haven't seen it and after two weeks air is still in the tires. The rear lenses have to be replaced as their missing, cracked off awhile ago, but the bases for the tail lights are still there. One of the bulb sockets that holds the bulb has to be replaced and I need bulbs. I would like to keep the original tail lights, since I only need a bulb socket, bulbs and the lenses. Aside from that he wired the lights directly to the battery because their was a short in the wiring some place. Aside from that, the machine could use a good repaint and it will be good to go.

Does anyone know where I can source a bulb socket, bulbs and the rear tail light lenses for my machine?
I also need the mounting hardware to mount the hood side panels. I know two are wingnuts, what are the other bolts used and the hardware to mount the belt cover to my 44A mower deck, as all of these pieces were removed shortly after the tractor was purchased, if anyone knows or has photos of the mounting hardware it would be very helpful. A week later I purchased a model #4 dump cart in real nice shape as I will be towing firewood and many other items around. Attached are photos.
Any help on where to find the parts I need or anyone who may have them and where to get a good set of new tail lights if the old ones aren't worth fixing, please let me know. Thank you.
I have a few short videos of the unit being driven, running ans cutting on YouTube if anyone is interested in seeing them.
Its a great machine. Its great to be an owner of one and part of the forum.

Welcome to OCC you got a nice tractor at the best price. 1650s are a real workhorse. I think this actually belongs in the IH garden tractor section though. :beerchug:

First, welcome to OCC.............:Welcome2:

Next, the 1650 is a Garden Tractor, not a lawn tractor.

Your tractor was made on Aug 1979.

Nice tractor. I have a 1450, little brother to the one you have, and it is one of my favorite models.

Thank you and thank you for the information. From what I read, I thought the 5th digit after the U was the year built, I guess I was mistaken. If so, how do you decode the serial number on that tag, so I know for the future. In the paperwork I have a document that states when the family recieved that unit. I believe it was April of 1980, I have to double check that paper when I get back home, but it's cool to have that. Of course that isnt when it was built, which would have been earlier. I'M actually glad its a 79 lol. According to Tractor data that serial number was part of the last year of production for the 1650 which is neat. Can you tell me what year my model 4 cart is from? I thought it was 1974 according to the numbers, couldn't be 80's because its past 1981 from the way I read the numbers. Thanks.

I agree that's why if possible I would like to get OEM tail light lenses for it. I do plan to repaint it and get rid of the rust and pitting on top of the hood and wheel wells, but aside from that I'm leaving it the way it is. The decals are all in descent shape, so I wont have to mess with them. I won't be doing any crazy mods too it. It appears they had a hood ornament on it ahwile even though the 1650 didn't originally have one, they probably took it off their 102 and put it on the 1650, I can see the stain from where it was. That will be gone once it gets repainted. The steering is nice and tight, yet it turns very easily which I like.
If anyone know where I can get a bulb socket, bulbs and original lenses for my tractor, I'd be obliged.
Even the seat is in nice shape for 40 years old. The original owner maintained it well, its just hard to avoid rusting, especially when you use it with a plow in snow.
I made a brief video riding it.
