Mower Deck Paint
1 Attachment(s)
I took the deck off my grandpa’s Husqvarna LT to clean and sharpen the blades. It is rotted pretty bad. What is a good paint to use on it that will not wear off too quickly?

Truck bed spray liner????

You might try a rust converter first then a Por 15 on top of that. Otherwise you could clean up and use some rusty metal primer from rustoleum.

Rustoleum Farm & Implement paint is great for this. You can get it at Tractor Supply. That is the paint I used on this deck:

No matter what you put on will eventually wear off. When I worked construction and carried a diesel fuel tank in the back of the pickup it would leak all over the bed. Every fender, door and hood on that truck was rusted beyond belief but that truck bed was like new, not one rust hole in it. I've always cleaned the deck a few times a year and brushed or sprayed diesel fuel on it and never had a problem...:TwoCents:

Whatever you decide I would have it sandblasted and treat it accordingly after that....:beerchug:

Thanks for the replies. I think I’m going to use a rust converter then paint.

If one has sandy soil or bare spots, nothing is going to hold up. oh and mulching dry leaves will clean up the underside of a deck like sandblasting it. BTDT:beerchug: |

If its really rotted like you say, sand blasting will more than likely leave you with a sieve
