149 hydro help
My wife just about killed herself on my old 149 the other day. I've almost smacked a few trees and come close to roll over more than a few times. So what's happening is, just about I'd say 3/4 throttle and under, is fine. Just past that, and for no good reason, she takes off to 100% . Seems if I hit the hydraulics to drop further, it will surge instantly if at 3/4 throttle or close. Yet sometimes it just surges up to 100% for no reason. The throttle lever and all moves forward. Any help would be appreciated. My 2 year old loves going for rides and it's just no longer safe to do so, naturally hes throwing a fit.

Confusing the way its written. What is "taking off" ? The hydro? or the throttle? If Hydro I would suspect linkage. If throttle there should be a tension nut. |
The hydro...the tractor just takes off to full speed by itself out of nowhere. Its scary....!!

I also find it confusing.
But focusing on the Hydro portion of your problem, sounds like you have sloppy linkage(s). Time to tale off the Tunnel Cover and do an inspection. Repair/Replace items that are loose. |

What does the last part mean? " The throttle lever and all moves forward " Are you saying that the throttle lever moves forward on its own? Or the forward/reverse "hydro lever" moves on its own? Or both? This could be 2 separate issues. |
Sounds like my 129. If I have the hydro lever in forward to any amount, it flings itself to full tilt all by itself. Try to hold it and not so steady if I hit any bump,it gets away from me. I think it is the bushing in the bottom of the hydro lever, haven't had a chance to check. So the tractor has been sitting.

I seem sure that the OP is referring to the hydro control lever as the throttle lever. As it was said before, my first choice would be to check and correct the linkage under the tunnel cover. However, you might need to tighten the tension on the lever.

Yes, the hydro lever. Not the engine throttle. My bad I see how that was confusing. I'm gonna pull that cover off and have a look. I've had it off several times nothing jumped out at me being wrong.
