PTO won't disengage
 
Model 72 - the front PTO is stuck engaged. It's not like it was engaged and it wouldn't disengage, I had just started the machine and even though the lever was to the rear the clutch was engaged and will not disengage.

pto clutch
 
two things come to mind.Is the pto wear button on the pto arm in good shape.Second try tightening the turn buckle adjustment to a shorter length.

I looked at those. When you put the lever in the forwaard position the clutch mechanism doesn't move so it appears to be locked up. I tapped it with a hammer and a rusty like powder came out. After 42 years maybe it's time to rebuild/replace it.
