Cub 127 engine swapped had spark now I dont ?

Just pulled the motor out of the donor 125 to put in my 127. I got the motor in test fired it and it seemed like it had a miss or timing. It was weird just not running right ya know. I figured maybe I had the coil wires backwards. I swapped them and put the 12v heading towards the point and tried to start it. Now I have no spark, could I have fried the points ? I know nothing about ignition other than I need spark.

lol.

the 12 v wire hooks to the + side of the coil , the points wire and the condenser hook to the - side of coil .. after that clean the points with emery cloth or sand paper set gap at .020 hopefully that will get it going

I had it hooked up right the first time but it ran rough it ran perfect in the other tractor rate before I pulled it out, so i switched the the coil wires around and now I'm not getting any spark also the black box that the harness is connected too was sparking when I fired it up so that was also shorting a little bit ... now if got nothing

You may have toasted the Voltage Regulator (V/R). However, the engine can run a short while without a V/R.

Yea idk lol I just looked at the points and they had melted plastic on them and smelled burnt so I took the points off the blown up motor they looked brand new put them on no spark.. should I swap the coil ?

Ok I swapped the coil I'm back in business ... kinda I have spark again and she will start but only run at idel as soon as I try to advance the throttle it dies... is there anything eletrical that could cause this ? She ran fine in my other tractor the only thing dif now is its hooked up to a dif harness and voltage reg.

Swap out your condenser also and see what that does

Ditto. If that doesn't correct it, look at the Carb.

did you set point gap to .020 ?

Agree on condenser being culprit.... Remember to connect it to negative side of coil.
