1864 no start

I have the brake down, PTO off, in neutral, and turn the key nothing.

There is a Bosch relay hooked up to the starter, and while turning the key I can feel it buzzing. The odd thing is, I started it and pull it out of its parking place, to grease all the tractor and deck fittings. When finished when to start it an nothing. Dash light is showing dis-engage PTO, I have the PTO dis-engaged.

As I am not the greatest electrical troubleshooter and help/ideas will greatly be appreciated. Plus both fuses show continuity.

Thank you for your time.

Turn the PTO on/off a few times and see if the light goes out. You should be able to hear it engage/disengage with the key on.

How much charge do you have in your battery? Try jumping it. A relay won't close/open if it doesn't have enough power and can vibrate or buzz a bit. Think of a dead battery in your car clicking and not starting. Same thing. Not enough to keep the contacts together with load.

This series of tractors, cyclops, have many interlock switches. Each has a connection may become loose or dirty reducing the voltage. Suggest cleaning each switch to wiring contact plug, key switch, PTO switch, brake switch, neutral switch and seat switches.

Old battery pto would not click. New battery pto clicks both on and off, but dash light when turning the key shows to turn pto off, when the pto is in the off position. But stil, l nothing when turning key to start. :American Flag 1:

Battery replaced with a new battery. Still nothing when turning the key to start. :American Flag 1:

Your suggestion is my next move. If after that, and still no start, it is giong to the dealer. :American Flag 1:

Other than safeties, check your grounds, and check them again. I don't think the relay would do anything if a safety switch was open. If it's making noise it's getting some power from somewhere. Don't give up on it too quick unless you're in a bind.

I went thru similar no crank/start issues with my 1864. Failure to crank was intermittent. As I would test for voltage, the engine would sometimes crank.
Intermittent electrical issues are frustrating. I cleaned all switch terminals but continued to have intermittent no crank failures. I replaced multiple interlock safety switches, the key switch and cleaned the terminals again. Tractor would start fine for awhile. But then grrrrr. To use the tractor at times of the no crank, I jumped the starter solenoid. I was absolutely sure to have the brake set, PTO off and transmission speed control in neutral. I have since added a starter relay and no further no crank issues. My safety switches remain in place.

Don, if you can get a 12v test light or a meter, you should have 12v or a light:

At battery positive terminal
then at the black wire at the key switch
The red/black wire at the key switch in the start position
After that it goes through the brake switch and the red wire coming out of it
To the pto switch still a red wire and exits the pto switch through another red wire
Then goes through the engine connector and becomes a blue wire that goes to the starter solenoid.

Sounds to me like the pto switch internal “off” connection that carries the start path through it is faulty but testing with light/meter will confirm.

However, if it already has the add on relay mod which it sounds like it does, we will have to know that as well because the blue wire that normally attaches to the start solenoid will then be going to only trigger the relay coil then the relay tips send pos to the starter solenoid via another added wire. Please report back
