Is this the correct front wheel for my 129?

Hi,

https://www.millertire.com/products/...b-3-4-bearing/

My tire size matches that listed in the link - 16x6-50-8. The exact measurement of the inside (hole) diameter of my bearings is 25/32, so since 3/4 seems to be fairly standard, I assume this wheel comes with the right size. I really need at least one new wheel, being that over the past several years it's to the point where a new bearing simply fits inside my wheel with lots of play - probably turns constantly with the wheel. Consequently, I've gone through loads of bearings over the years. From hammering out the remainder of al the worn-out bearings, I'm sure the ends of the wheel are expanded and thus pretty well shot. Tired of eating through bearings.

Miller was suggested to me as a good place to get wheels, so just have to make sure of the size. I've been in contact with them and they have given me bearing measurements that don't quite match mine - they indicate a measurement of 1 3/8, whereas I get 1 10/32 for the shorter (inside the wheel) measurement and 1 14/32 for the larger outside diameter. Their wheel comes with the bearing, so probably no need to even worry about any of this - just interesting that my replacement bearings don't seem to exactly match their measurements.

It appears the hole for the valve stem is on the deep dish side. The valve stem hole needs to be on the shallow dish side. Valve stem will hit the steering arm.

This rim would work on a narrow frame IH Cub Cadet.

Would not have thought of this! Certainly valve stem has to be on the outside. I wrote back to Miller asking if there is anyone there that can advise as to which of their wheels will definitely work for my 129. Been sending messages back and forth with them about these bearing dimensions - but none of that is worth anything if it's not the right wheel.

The 129 had two options for the front wheels. A 4.00 x 8" Rim (IH-386188-R92) for 4.00/4.80 x 8" tires, or 5.38 x 8" Rim (IH-545730-R2) for the 16 X 6.50-8 Tires.

The 4.00 x 8 Rim is NLA from Cub Cadet. The 5.38 x 8" Rim is still available.

Another option is to swap to 1” spindles and wheels from a late production Quietline tractor. The 1” bearings are much larger and durable. I did that upgrade on my 129 when I lucked out and found a guy wanting 3/4” spindles so that he could run narrow wheels.

So the 5.38 x 8 will definitely work on my 129 then? And has the valve stem on the outside the way it looks?

That is a picture of an actual Cub Cadet factory wheel. If you have 16x 6.50-8 tires it will work.
