Running hot??
I finally got my mower deck on and working good and it acts like the motor wants to run hot. Stumbles and bogs down give it a little choke and it'll run for a while longer. Anything I should check on it? It's a 100 with a 42" deck.

yeah. 1st thing, pull any tinwork you can and look down inside the front shroud and see how packed the cooling fins are. if they are packed with grass, oil, grease or a mouse hotel the engine WILL run hot.
these are air cooled and run hot anyways. WHat symptoms do you have that make you think that it's running "too" hot? |
Started smoking a little and the gas was boiling in the tank.

Make sure you have the airflow and make sure you aren't running lean. Check your timing.

You might check that you have sufficient fuel flow to the carb.
Bogging down and saying pulling the choke helps, indicates a fuel problem.:bigthink: |
What's the recent service history?

Thanks for the help guys. I took the little shroud off of the cylinder head and it was packed full of dust and grass working perfect again
