Broken lift button removal?

On my 147, I broke the lift button off. Any ideas how I can get what is left in there out? I can’t grip it with pliers, I tried bolt extractors, and I can’t get it out.

Your 147 should of had electric lift on it ,the only way to fix what you have is to take the rockshaft and lever off and push the rod up from the bottom or get another rockshaft and arm

Cut 3/8 off the top of the handle with a tubing cutter, then remove the ratchet thingy on the rockshaft then you can grip it.

Is it possible to pull it down from the bottom rotate it 180° then let it go back up to original position, except now it wouldn't be in the "catches" of the level adjuster? It might possibly be higher or obtainable now. Just an idea good luck!

I have another rockshaft and arm, but I would rather not change it since the new one was repainted and won’t match the rest of the tractor.

That would probably work, but I don’t want to cut anything.

That might work. If not, I’ll take it off, and hopefully it will go up far enough to grab it with pliers.

I would probably pull the rockshaft out from the bottom of the cub, which certainly is not fun, but then you would be in a better position to work on it or just replace it. If you can pull the hook down from the bottom, then you might be able to rotate it around and unscrew the rod from what is left of the button and get it to release. You might have to straighten the hook out of the bottom and that would allow it to be slid through the tube and out of the top of the lift arm. Of course, you would need to re-bend the rod at the same spot if you plan on re-using it.

It doesn’t look fun, I was trying to avoid taking the rockshaft out, but I guess I don’t have much of a choice.

Drill a hOle in the button, then use a easy out.

That’s a great idea. I may try that first.
