1641 PTO- Toast!

With the help of forum members, I’ve been able to resolve the ailments of this 22 year old machine [ which had sat for many years ,outside, covered].
Installed the mower deck, mowed for approximately 15 minutes, before the smoke and squealing started. It wouldn’t turnover, just clicked. Today, I pulled the PTO. On a side note, previously the tractor would start ok after sitting overnight, but would drag once the engine was warm. I’m thinking this was early stages of bearing failure. Without the PTO, the engine spins and starts like new.
What sources are available for replacement, whether new/used.
Thanks

Get one of these from extreme Pto. Check your serial number, there are 2 available for your tractor.

Thanks for the info. I ordered the replacement [X0037] for a Warner 5218-29, as that’s what I removed. The “‘Cub Cadet original equipment “ replacement 917-3389, would have been a X0188. I’ll update in a few days.

Update

I received my replacement PTO from Xtreme. My problem is the voltage output is 14.46 volts on high speed at the PTO connection. Per their tech support it should be 13.4- 14.0 max. I have a new Interstate battery. The 2 yellow wires at the voltage rectifier/ regulator have 28 volts AC output, The red wire is showing 12.8 volts DC.
I don’t want to trash the coil with too much output.
Any ideas ?? Thanks

Relax, put the new PTO on, pop a cold one and be happy. I'll bet that the voltage once you install it and flip the switch will be in the operating range.

Another observation, the 12.8 volts DC from the red wire of the rectifier/regulator was with the plug apart. It’s only .40 Volts DC coming out, and 12.8 on the other half of the plug.
AC in, DC out, correct? Just trying to understand how this works.
Thanks for your time and patience
