Sad day for the 800
Hey everyone yesterday I was cleaning up some Cubs yesterday from sitting over the winter and I went to go drive around the 800 this afternoon when I tried starting it it sounded like it tried to just barely crank then clicked. I ran it for a good while yesterday and started and shut it off at least 3 times yesterday with no problem. New battery was installed Jan.2019.
Any ideas? what to do first instinct was to hit starter while cranking but don't want to on that particularly small starter. What do I need to check for? |
Check for bad cable connections at the Battery as well as the other ends. Connections need to be clean, bright & tight.

Ok thank you Roland will check out cables and ends tomorrow.

Take a good look over wire harness. Mice and others love to bed down and chew on wires in our machines over the winter. If you see any evidence of that, make sure blower housing dont have a mouse house in it.

Well if you ran it and started it three times yesterday, I would check to see if the battery is charging, or it is a ground issue.
Do not hit the starter, there should be a label on it not to do so. |

Yes it clearly says right on the starter do not strike. I'm not one who usually bangs around on engine parts any way I'm going to check all the connections tomorrow I honestly did not even flip the seat up at all and see the battery yesterday, I walked up and cranked it right up yesterday.
I did blow the engine and the flywheel screen out yesterday and it was surprisingly clean. I will let you know what I find. |
Well I got it figured out corroded positive battery cable and also somehow the plug in the back of the key switch must of not had good contact I unplugged and plugged it back in 4 or 5 times to clean the contacts it worked fine after that. Thanks again guys.
