105 steering wheel Interchange to 1772

I have 1772 super. The steering wheel needs to be replaced. I have a hard time getting the steering wheel off the 1772. When I get it off I have a 105 Chrome steering wheel on my 1650. Does anyone know if the 105 splines in the steering wheel is the same spline as a shaft in the 1772?

splines are probably the same, but the steering wheel is likely smaller in diameter.

And it is taller also.

Yes the 105 steering wheel is small in diameter and a little taller. The steering wheel on my super is all buggered up and needs to be changed. I have a professional built steering wheel puller that works perfect removing steering wheels off all my Cub Cadet. But can't seem to budge the 1772 steering wheel is there a trick to getting in them off? I don't want to cut it off but I might have to. I would if I was for sure of the splines are the same on 105.

Have you tried to impact the end of the puller slightly with a hammer while having tension on it. Hit a few times, then tighten, hit more, tighten, it should pop

I do this a lot. Just don’t hit it too hard that you knock the shaft out the bottom of the steering box. A couple Swift knocks after some penetrant with tension ought to pop it off.

I’ll also mention I put a 5/16 bolt or something similar size piece inside the tube so as not to mushroom the threads while pulling. Leave steer wheel nut on loose etc. until it pops. Let’s see this puller you have if you don’t mind

Try finding a steering wheel off of a Massey Ferguson 10 or 12. Same style wheel only difference one wheel had a textured finish and one was smooth. :beerchug:
