1812 - fan on drive shaft
Hi there! I have the above workhorse! Recently I have had the plastic fan on the rear of the driveshaft which cools the tranny shredded! The original happened about 3 years ago had it replaced last year, shredded this past December. Do not know why this is happening.
Had to replace the drive shaft rubber couplings about 8 years ago. Could there be a connection to this fan issue? Any ideas appreciated as to why this happens! Fanless in CT Arty |
First, welcome to OCC.... :Welcome2:
The Plastic Fans are fairly durable. My guess it hit something to explode. (A) Make sure the fan is secured to the Drive Shaft with the mounting bolt. (B) If you have excessive "wobble" in the Drive Shaft, check (1) the Flex Disc on each end of the drive shaft, and (2) check the Pilot Bushings in the Flex Disc Couplers. If any parts are worn, replace as necessary. :IH Trusted Hand: |
Thank you for the welcome and the suggestions!!

check the rear end mounting bolts also , and the front mounting housing area on the trans. housing for broken ears
