Light Switch Suggestions
I went to use the 1572 the other day to use the snowblower to clear the driveway. It started fine, but I had some electrical gremlins I was dealing with. First the PTO switch did not turn on the PTO but after a half-dozen flicks of the switch it started to work. Then came the light switch. I turned on the lights and nothing. As I was turning the switch back off, I thought I saw a brief flash from the headlights, so brief I thought it was reflection from a passing car in the street. I then cycled the switch again and noticed the brief flash mid range from off to on. I continued this cycling of the switch and noticed the lights started to light up for a longer duration of the swing of the switch handle with each pass. Still not on in the on position, it took about a dozen passes to get the lights to stay on in on. I suspect dirty/corroded contacts in both of these switches as they are the originals the machine came with in 1987. While I have a replacement PTO switch on order from one of the sponsors, the light switch is NLA. What options would be best? Spray some contact type cleaner into the innards to the light switch, get a used one (which may be in the same condition as what I have) or sub in a replacement. Any recommendations for a replacement light switch? I want to find one that is plug and play with no cutting/splicing required.

Ignition Switch....KB-66706-55120 SWITCH ASSY is still available from any Cub Cadet or Kubota Dealer.

Thanks Roland, but the 1572 uses Cub Cadet 925-3087 (replaces 725-3087) for the light switch that is separate from the ignition switch.

I don't know where you are getting your information from. These two images are directly from the Cub Cadet Parts Look-up Site.

He is talking about item number 12, the light switch. The light switch and ignition switch are separate on the diesel models.

Sorry....My Bad. I assumed the lights were part of the Ignition Switch.
:Sorry: |
My bad, yes it is number 12 in the parts blowup.

The 725-3087 Light switch is a simple SPST Toggle Switch.
As best as I can see you have two options. (A) Do an internet search and find a seller who is selling a NOS switch. Might try the Sponsors listed at the top of the page too. (Any of these part numbers will work - [IH-1286653-C1, 725-3087, 925-3087]) (B) Go to an Auto Parts Store (ie: NAPA, etc) and buy a universal SPST Light Switch with at least a 10A rating, if you are not concerned about being parts correct. |
Thanks Roland, I think I'll go visit my local O'Reillys. They should have something. You think a 10A switch will do it?
