New Cub Hauler
3 Attachment(s)
I got a 1999 GMC Sierra 2500 with only 87,000 miles, and almost no rust. It also has a nice Myers power angle plow. It needs a couple small things fixed like a leaking washer fluid bottle, and the gas gauge doesn’t work, but nothing major. It was clearly well taken care of.

That is a nice looking Cub hauler. Does it have the 350 or 454?

Nice truck, my favorite actually. I have the 96 crew 3500 with the 6.5. Looks very straight clean plus low miles. You did very well, congrats :beerchug: (btw those are root beers for you ; )

These were the last of one of the best styles of modern GM/Chevy trucks.......and they were still actually trucks! A good friend of mine and I used his '98 Chevy 1500 Work Truck with a 4.3 V6 and 5 speed manual more than anyone could ever believe, 3,000 lbs of flagstone in the bed, 2 yards of mulch, stone, top soil, you name it, that truck hauled it. Trips from Buffalo, NY to Central Florida, and it's still going with over 200,000 miles on it today. And it's so cheap and easy to maintain, it gets over 26 MPG on the highway, it doesn't burn oil, and it's just an overall great truck. That 4.3 V6 with the 5 speed manual was one of the best, most efficient drivelines in these trucks in my opinion.
We both wish they still made these, but unfortunately the pickup truck is now a status symbol for people that live in a tacky plastic mcmansion home in some subdivision named, "Winding Willows" or "Oak Meadows" with the mission of out-doing the Jones' next door, while spending beyond their means and maxing out all of their credit cards. |
Nice truck IH147. I was on a job site last week and there was a brand new Silverado that still had the window sticker on it. I walked up and the bottom line was $61k:bigeyes:......how in the hell do people pay that for a truck? Oh, that's right, I'm just a cheap a$$.:biggrin2:

I loved my 98 Silverado but she rusted away. You should treat the chassis with oil or Fluidfilm and replace all the brake lines. I lost 5 brake lines, some while driving it! Everyone I know with that type truck lost brake lines.

Just replaced my 93 1500 Suburban (489,000 mi.) with a rust free 99 California 1500 Suburban (126,000 mi.). Both 5.7L. Fluid Filmed the snot out of it. Last of that body/frame style. Love this truck. Good Luck to all.
