Snowthrower 451 Burning Belt

Hi All,

I posted recently about how to get the belt onto my snowthrower (I thought it was a 551, but it is 451).

Anyway, thanks to this site I have the belt on, but the problem is that it seems the belt is slipping and I can smell the burning rubber when the PTO is engaged.

I feel like I would like to tighten the belt more, but I can't see anyway to adjust this. The pulley with the spring is engaged and the spring extended, but the belt still seems loose. Is there a way to adjust the belt besides with the pulley spring?

Thanks much!

Yep, a genuine 954-0340. $86 CAD.

The only belt tension adjustment is via that tensioner spring.

Do you know that it’s the right spring?

Does the blower turn freely when it’s not hooked up to the tractor?

what kind of shape are the idler pulleys in?

Also this is on a 2182, correct?
Do you have pictures of it mounted?

The supers take a different belt due to the drop brackets I believe.

Do you have the extension brackets installed?
