2182 with Snowblower
Hi all! Been lurking for a while and the amount of information here is amazing.
Anyway, I have a 2182 I picked up from my neighbor and it has a few issues. The one that concerns me the most right now is how to mount the snowblower on the tractor! I have the frame attached, but I can’t seem to figure out the belt. There are a couple of “pins” for lack of a better term that won’t let the belt sit inside the pullies on the left and right side. The belt seems to thick to slip under the pins and as it is now, the belt flies off as soon as the PTO engages. Any ideas? If no one has any ideas, I will get some pictures tomorrow. It is supposed to be close to 30 degrees where tonight it’s closer to zero! Thanks! |
First, welcome to OCC.............. :Welcome2:
Next, which model of "snowblower" do you have..?? :bigthink: |
Thanks for the welcome! I am 95% sure it is the Cub Cadet 551 snowthrower.

Welcome to OCC!
I'm assuming you're talking about the tensioner pulley? I"m also assuming you're tightening the spring? The belt has to go under those pins and around the pulley. edit: Here's the owner's manual for it. edit2: To clarify, the adjustable tension idler pulley has to come off for the belt to properly go on. You then can bolt it back together. |
Thanks Gompers! I never would have thought to remove the pulley without your input! Got the pulley off, the belt on and managed to clear the foot of snow that fell over the last 24 hours! Thanks again!

I just moved about 8" of it with my 2084/451 combo. Yours is just one step up both in tractor and blower from mine :D While those blowers do have their little design quirks like the belt configuration and the sort of rube goldberg lift mechanism, they move snow pretty well once you get them dialed in! |
PTO belt for 2182/551 Snow Blower
Hey there. Wondering if anyone knows where I could get a replacement belt, also track down the part number?
|
The belt is 754-0341 or 954-0341. $42.00 on eBay.

2182 and 450 combo keeps blowing belts.
I have been trying to clear my driveway of snow, around 8", and it keeps destroying the belts, got thought 3 yesterday before I gave up, where it ripped up the wiring to the PTO. Everything is on correctly, I was driving slowly etc. Anyone ideas as to what might be happening that I am missing ?

All I can think of is maybe you do not have the mounting brackets for a super, otherwise check the pulleys and see if the spin freely.
