Crazy people

My brother runs an automotive repair service business. The other day, I was hanging out at my brother's shop and a large van carrying several kids (probably college) pulled up to the gas pumps with brake problems. I'm not sure what was their problem with the brakes but obviously they were needing brake fluid and a quickie repair for some sort of leak. Probably a busted line.

They asked my brother for Stop Leak for brakes....:HeadScratch: My brother had no such thing! Then they asked him to pinch off the leak with a vise grip! They'll pay for the vise grip! :ScrewLoose: My brother says "Can't help you with that. It's not right and it's dangerous. You want to me fix your brakes, only way I can do it is the right way."

Obviously, these kids needed to be somewhere more important than a safe trip!:bash2:

So they poured some brake fluid into reservoir and drove off.....

They're nuts!

In NY, I owned and operated several shops over the years including 3 Meineke's.. If you pull a car into the shop and there is a issue with anything related to brakes that deems them unsafe, By law the shop is required to not let the car go out without being repaired or the owner has the option to have it towed away. In NY most shops are also NY State DMV inspection centers. The shop "if it is an inspection location" has the right to scrape off the inspection sticker if the owner chooses to have it towed away. This does not apply to simple worn out brake linings. It has to be hydraulic failure related. Same goes for dangerous steering components.

In the case with the kids and the van You didnt mention if your brother actually pulled it into bay and inspected it. That would change things
