More power with just a twist of a screw

My 125 had been "not so strong" when mowing in heavy grass lately. It's been raining a LOT here in NE PA so the heavy grass has become more frequent.

I was getting ready to mow today as I was checking the oil and topping off the gas, I noticed the clamp type governor bracket on the carb stem / butterfly seem to have a little clearance.

I moved the rod and there was a decent amount of play. I tightened fitting ( I used an impact driver BY HAND since it was short enough to fit ) and when I mowed, the full power was back.

The red arrow is pointing to the clamping device I tightened up. With the engine off, move the linkage to full throttle and the screwdriver goes from the front.

Sometimes it's the simple things that work :beer2:

Good eye to see that! Ain't it great when things are simple!

Yes it is. I was wondering why it was low on power as I rebuilt it a few years ago. Turned out full throttle wasn't under load

Good job Jeff.

Might want to check governor calibration now. Might be off a bit still. :beerchug:

Nice find Jeff.:beerchug:. I've seen that before but had honestly forgotten about it!:beerchug:.. don't see too many of those carbs any more with the clamp on throttle arm
