Best means of removing carb on quietline
Yes I searched but no results came up.
I want to clean out the carbs on both my 1000 and 1650. Pulled the air cleaner off and I see the carb mounting bolts are buried behind the carb body. Not sure what the easier way to get at them is. Any tips appreciated. :Unknown: |
Try a 1/2" wrench.
And a fine tipped screwdriver. That's why the bolts have slots in 'em! |
I use a 1/2" crows foot wrench on a long 3/8" ratchet extension to get them loose then the slotted screwdriver or just my fingers to finish them off.

Yep, break them loose and use a screwdriver.

Just did this yesterday. Twice. Open end 1/2" wrench to break them free, then a screwdriver. Usually just need to loosen the left one a few turns, and the right one all the way, then slide the carb off to the right.
Had to do it a second time when I forgot to adjust the float and the carb spilled a quart of fuel due to float not shutting off the fuel flow. Getting good at this. |
Thanks, I like twoton's idea.
