Kohler K321 bolt holes, questions?

Are the flywheel shrouds interchangeable on a K series K321? IE I'm pretty sure I have a replacement (motor?) or shroud from a 149 in my 147 as the coil mount is above the engine data plate....if I find an engine tin that has this inverted will it bolt directly to the existing block?

Thanks

Sounds like you’ve got it Daniel. Yes, different blower housings nf vs wf as you have figured out. I swapped a k241 out of a 108 into a 102 and had to swap blower housings among a few other small things to make it all work.

Daniel, yes.... and no. The K series blower housings have several different size and bolt set ups. Alvy is correct, the NF and WF housings do differ. You can use a blower housing from a 149 in a 147 and vise versa, as they will mate to the engines. But you cannot use one from a 1450, as they are larger in size. The mounting style is all the same, but it won't fit the backing plate. When they went to ring gear starter motors, the housing needed to be bigger.

When you start rebuilding the K series, you find out just how many set up's there are, and how annoying it is to not have what you need to fill an order.
