Briggs in a Allis Chalmers R112
Anyone close to O'Fallon, MO that could give my Uncle some tips on the Briggs that is in his AC B112 GT? It has the starter generator similar to out Cubs.
Having spark issues getting it started. I'm at a loss to tell him where to start as I have never messed with a B&S. Do they have a Coil/Condenser and points like a Cub?? Please PM me for more info and his contact info if you can clue him in. Thanks! |
Should be a B-112...1960s model. It has a magneto style ignition. If the points/condenser are ok chances the coil or the lead from the coil to the spark plug are suspect. Mice love those engines and oftentimes chew through the lead allowing it to go to ground. The coil could just be bad too. The engine has to be removed in order to repair the coil. Remember it is a magneto ignition so no voltage goes to the coil!

No, they use a magneto with breaker points. Google the tractor, or the engine model. It uses a B&S 300421. Easy to get info on it.

If it’s an older Briggs like that I’m thinking the points are under the flywheel correct?

There is a points and condenser house for them.
We are talking cast iron B&S. |

Lots of the later (but still old) aluminum ones. |
