Help with Final Stages of Cub 100 Restoration

I’m finally getting close to finishing my first complete overhaul to a Cub 100 and I could use some expert advice. I’m installing a new wiring harness from Porch Electric and of course the original Starter/Generator, Voltage Regulator and battery were all separated from the tractor during the rebuild process. I’ve read a bunch of threads and various forums and I’m still a little confused as to what the proper procedure is for reconnecting and making sure things are polarized correctly, etc. Can one of you more experienced experts help me out so I don’t fry anything? Thank you!

Not sure about the brand harness you purchased but I thought most of them came labeled.

Hook up the harness and install the battery. As long as everything is hooked up correctly, it will polarize when you turn the key on the first time.

Thank you

Thank you for the quick replies and guidance. The wiring got harness came well labeled and looks pretty straight forward. My main concern was with the polarizing step after hooking up the battery again. Sounds like there isn’t any special process and that it all re-polarizes when you turn the key. If it’s really this easy it’s interesting how many discussion boards there are with this as a highly debated topic. I appreciate you all sharing your expertise!

Porch Electric LLC

Wiring harness is from Porch Electric, LLC. Looks like a great quality product, well labeled and the service was awesome. Placed the order and had the harness on my doorstep within a couple days. Highly recommended.

The forums you saw were likely talking about delco remy generators only. If the unit is used for starting and generator there is no need to polarize. It does it on its own as soon as you crank it. So if you ever work on a delco remy that is just a generator or will not use the crank function then yes. You need to polarize it. The process is extremely simple tho. :beerchug:

There is a member here who makes them also. We usually recommend him. Very good quality, nearly half the price.
