install the battey the wrong way
hi everybody I mostly favored john deere tractors but heard allot about the cub cadets. recently I had the chance to purchase one model # 2160 I was impress with how well it was built ( heavy duty ) anyway it was running fine until I install a new battery the wrong way positive on the negative etc-etc and as soon as I turned the key smoke came out ..everything still works except for the deck I checked the P.T.O switch with a volt meter and it seams to be alright any help would be greatly appreciated..johnny

Well the problem is obvious, you let the magic smoke out! :bash2:
First order of electrical work is not to let the magic smoke escape. That is why you keep a empty quart bottle handy to catch the escaping smoke.:beerchug: It is gone, you will never recover it so you are stuck with what is left in the other wires. Now look @ the schematic and check for fuses. Also look @ the schematic to see if there is a diode in the electric clutch circuit that could possibly be fried. You also need to see if the charging system is functioning properly. ---And see if you reversed the polarity in the flux capacitor :biggrin2: If you did that, your future of doing any electrical work is very grim. |
put the battery on the wrong way
