Attaching side panels-1450

1 Attachment(s)
Started reassembly on my 1450, side panels were off when I got it. Despite all my searching I can't find how to attach the front of the side panels, the only holes are sticking above everything. Is there a rod that ties them together? Thanks for the help.

It’s a spring that holds them together

And a thumb/wing nut on each end under the dash fiberglass

Or you could go to Lowes, home depot or any hardware store get a screen door spring, you might have to shorten it a bit, but it is much cheaper.

Get into the groove, boy you've got to prove......There is a groove in the bottom of them that fits inside of the frame. What I do is angle my side panel at a 63 degree angle (:biggrin2:), about 60 degrees and place the bottom of the panel inside the frame. Then, slowly bring the top up in an arcing motion to align with the cowl/dash and the front nose. The holes should align up better for you. Next, screw on your wing nut, repeat with the other side and then attach your springy thingy!!

It looks like from your pic that you have the bottom outside of this groove in your frame.....

I noticed the groove. This side is beat to hell somehow. Gotta get it straightened out first.:BangPC: And IIRC there is no studs just a threaded hole instead.

What you need is a wing screw- a screw with a head on it like a wing nut. You may be able to find something to work at the hardware store. I ue a fender washer on the screw to cover the big slot that is in the sidepanel.
