Snowthrower Parts ?
2 Attachment(s)
Hi Guys
Need some bevel gears for my cub blower ,don’t know it’s model ,it’s 42 inches wide ,hope my pics might help ,not sure where to get these parts for the old girl |
Welcome to the forum!
Those gears are NLA from CCC. You're best bet is to buy a used gearbox, disassemble it and rebuild it, then install it on your thrower. Keep an eye on the fluid in those gear boxes! |
Thanks ,have being looking for a gearbox but no luck anywhere ,would even buy a blower if needed but also no luck with that, the cub runs great and it’s also used to cut our big lawn ,so I’m interested in keeping the blower going as we get some good snowfalls here in Ontario

try ebay if you haven't, they do pop up.
FWIW: a tiller gear box is a different ratio, even though it appears the same visually :beerchug: |

I've recently done some studying on these gears.... the JD power equipment also used the same boxes. I don't have a cross reference put together yet, but it would seem the larger gear is still available from Deere. Now, the thing I don't know for sure is if the diameter is the same. Haven't gotten that far..... but I assume that they are the same. I wouldn't hesitate to try one.
The PN for a 30T gear is M93731 PN for a 20T gear (tiller) is M93730 FWIW, going to the tiller box set of gears will speed up the blower by 600 RPM. Now, that's 600 more RPM at the output shaft of the gearbox, not at the auger. Doing so, probably wouldn't hurt a thing, because there is a gear reduction again at the auger chain drive. Probably one a 200 RPM increase at the auger (without knowing the gear ratio on the chain, just an educated guess). The only concern I would have, is the jackshaft where the driveshaft connects to has small needle bearings in it. If I did this conversion, I would likely not run the engine at WOT until I knew that it wouldn't be too fast for that shaft or the bearings. A 600 RPM increase is quite a bit on that shaft..... but I really think it would be fine. I'm sure that someone has done it unknowingly before. Up to you! |

I have used a tiller box on a thrower in a pinch, by using a different sprocket and drive pulley, but for most people, that is more work than they want to do. But it will work, I have discussed it here on the forum in years past.:beerchug: |

Sent you a PM for something I found. Also, I make the gear box shafts if you need to replace them. http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=20875 Jeff |
