steering unit question??
 

will the steering unit from a 72 108 fit in a 77 1200. they look almost identical from what i can see, but i was wanting to find out for sure. the 108 unit is tight and solid while the other is sloppy and needs repair and i don't want to pull it apart right now while there is grass to be slayed!!! thanks jeff

thanks wild bill, but unfortunately you forgot to mention that when you are removing the steering wheel, the bolt and hammer way, that when it is loose enough to kinda pry up by hand, to remove your face from the area!!! i now have a busted nose, not to bad, but bad enough to make me get up with tears in my eyes!!!!! i am a VERY easy going guy so everyone please feel free to give a little chuckle and a smile!! thanks jeff

I won't mention what a set of Vice grips that have slipped off of a bolt will do to the front two teeth... shakes head... LOL Am glad you weren't hurt too bad.

got the steering box all rebuilt, still got to go in an adjust some stuff. it was late, had to button it up per the wife. :bash2: jeff

got the box all dialed in now. it was like going from a VW to a cadillac in driveability. jeff

that's ok, it knocked a little sense into me (or maybe out??)

if it makes it another 33 years i will be 73 and my kids can redo it and i can watch them bonk their noggin'!! jeff
