Interchanging Decks?
I am wondering if I can interchange a quick attach deck with a pin on deck. I have a 149 with a 42" quick attach deck and I also have a 123 with a 48" pin on deck. I was wondering if I could put the pin on deck on the 149 with very little re-working. Normally, I would look at them and compare them myself, but my cubs are over 35 miles apart right now and I will not be at my other place for several more days. I don't know whether I should drag my 149 along or not and about how much time I am looking at to convert hardware. Thanks in advance for considering my question.

Put the pin-on subframe on the 149's mule drive. I think that'll work. I know you can mix and match NF QA and pin-on stuff. All bets are off for the belt though...neither one may fit, or one might. You'll have to experiment with that.

I hate to resurrect this old thread (I found this thread while googling), but I'm in a similar boat where I have the pin-on undercarriage on my 102 and a guy near me has a 38in QA deck. Is it as simple as replacing the QA mounts on the deck with the pin-on style? I imagine you could use the QA mounts on the rear but would need to replace the front mounts with the eyelet hooks for the pin-on style? Or is there more to change out?

The mounting holes for the pin on the rear brackets are not the same as the QA ones.Do you have QA laying around?

I don't have a QA frame but if the holes just need to be bigger I can "waller them out" on a drill press.

You will still have an issue with the front ones. They will not work on a QA deck. You can try the eye bolts, but I think that they will have to be modified.

I looked at the parts diagrams for both the deck and the undercarriage and the deck seems to be the same regardless of if it's QA or pin-on; the mounting hardware is what varies with the undercarriages. So hopefully it will all work just fine. I'll find out in a few weeks when I can go get the deck!
