Hey guys just wanted to post a few pics of my 106. Ive been slowly going through it mechanically and I just love the thing. Today it is 25 out and full choke, half throttle and it started up immediatly . Ive installed new coil, points, condensor, carb, fuel lines, pulled and cleaned tank, sediment bowl, rebuilt pto, air filter, oil, front wheel bearings. Adjusted brakes and clutch and I think thats it. It really runs great and pulls well. I need to get the deck rebuilt for this summer mowing but ive been using every excuse I can think of to get it out of the shed. Have a good day!

Once it hits 0°, it doesn't much matter to me. It's brutal at that point. In my opinion 0° down to -15° or so is pretty much the same. Below -15° it seems to be colder. I've lived here all my life. Coldest I remember is -25°. That's f---in cold!! It still blows my mind the temp swing from summer to winter in south central Illinois. Over 100° difference!

Vehicles can tell the difference between 0 and -15 :biggrin2:
Was -24 here last nite. A record for this day. I didn’t try to start anything :biggrin2:

To the OP: nice tractor!

Nice 106! You've got the ignition and fuel systems dialed in if it starts easily in really cold weather.

It's unusual here in coastal Virginia for it to stay below freezing all day or go down into the single digits at night. May happen once or twice per year. It's one of those weeks here... Fortunately, shop is toasty warm, so other than the $$$ to heat it, it's not a big impact.

Thank all, I enjoy it. Im starting to work on the 42" deck now. I attached a couple pics after some rust removal. I was thinking of getting some patches welded in. I cannot weld myself so I will need to find a local welder who can do it. Is it worrh it or should I look for a new shell? It been repaired beforw by the previous owner. The two outer deck spindles seem nice and tighr and spin well but the center has some wobble to it. Let mw know what you all think. On a side note, what are you guys using to heat your homes in that cold? Ive been stock piling wood to burn in my fireplace insert for next year. Im tired of seeing the propane man.

That’s a nice 106. I like to see them as workers, not shed queens. They are nice too but workers mean a little more to me. I have my eyes out for a narrow frame, I’d like to have one. I feel your pain on the cold. It was 15 here today and wind made it colder. I heat my place with wood and coal. I have a Harman Mark 2 coal/wood stove, picked it up for 300 bucks, replaced firebrick and welded a crack behind the door (every Harman of this style I have seen has it). Works great.
