My new acquisition last night

Hello all! I was not sure where to put this one,
but i am excited to share my recent purchase last evening. I picked up this 154 Low boy in North East IN for $750. It did not run, but cranked. I am not worried because it was from a co-workers friend. It has a spare set if rear wheels, and has the split brakes. Lights worked and came with the IH deck. Some may disagree, but i feel as I got a steal. Here is the only pic that i had time to snap. Darn daylight saving time....

Yup, I think you got a deal. $2500 -$3000 here in NY.

Well have fun with your new toy! Looks decent. Just a heads up... some parts are expensive...ask me how I know!:biggrin2:

Nice... maybe a bit pricey but hey, it has a grill

yeah I had a feeling that was the case. Fewer made = fewer replacement parts made = $$$$$$$$$$$$$. the main thing i was thinking is of course the engine, and my father has a spare C60 in red of course that we have laying around so was banking of that for engine. was assuming the rear end was pretty solid and other than a clutch not going to give me fits. the deck definitely need some patching, and belts. the shields are missing witch may be my first obstacle. any tips of what to watch out for??

A steal in my neck of the woods. Haven’t seen one for less than 1500 for awhile now

Check the chassis for cracks where the transmission is fastened. Many Lo-Boys have broken frames resulting from loose transmission mounting bolts.:beerchug:

It's ma'm. :biggrin2:

If it cranks, but doesn't run, check the points. Quick run of a file and it may start. Or, it may have a fuel blockage. There is a screen in the carb at the fuel line along with the sediment bowl on the tank.

Deltacub is correct about the frame.
Pull the tunnel cover and see if the trans brake is good and not missing parts.
Oil in the final drives usually need changed, and they are separate from the rear end oil.

You got a good deal on it. :beerchug:

Please forgive mas'a :biggrin2:

The seller claimed that is has a fuel leak at the carb when he got it at auction. All the gas had leaked out in the time since he purchased it. That being said I did not take gas along to put in it to start. Was unaware when we went to take a look. The deal fell together so quickly when my co-worked emailed me that the guy renting his barn was selling the tractor so i wanted to jump on it before he put it on the open market.
