Why won't my deck raise?
9 Attachment(s)
Mounted and leveled the deck on the 582. Hanger assy is assembled per the manual. Left side of deck is 3 1/4" up from the concrete floor on the front & rear of the blade. Right side front is 3 1/4 & rear is 3 1/2". Need a flat washer I assume on the right rear mount to drop the rear of the deck another 1/4".
The 3 1/4 " measurement is with the deck in the highest position. Is that normal? I know my 1450 raises higher than that, but I've already removed the deck, gettting both plows mounted. I usually mow at 3 inches. Also, the double pulley appears to be cocked? |
Guess I stumped the group with this problem.

I had a "crooked" pulley on my 50C last year. The alignment was off but it still worked. I removed the deck, and the effected spindle. Found that the deck area of that spindle, was warped or bent. I got a block of wood and my trusty BFH, and pounded it back to where it was level with the other two spindles.
I haven't spent anytime worrying about the "raise height". It is what it is. But if I were to do something, I would shorten the "lift links" on the Mule Drive to get a higher lift. As far as leveling the deck, the first thing I would check is the Rocker Shaft lift arms to make sure they are in the same plane. After that, it is a labor of love has to fine tuning to your liking. I am one of those guys, that set my deck down on the gauge wheels and let the deck rip. I spent a lot of time 7-8 yrs ago when I redone my 50C to get the "cutting height" I was looking for, and haven't looked back. |
Bravo Roland, bravo! Thank you. That's what I needed to hear.
On my 1450, if I raise the deck all the way up, the PTO drive belt rubs. I see PTO drive belt rub marks on this deck so I was concerned. I removed everything and started from scratch and discovered the left pulley on the mule drive had the incorrect length bolt in it so the adjustment arm was bent to fit over the short bolt. I have corrected that issue. So I now have spring time work to do. |
