A kink in a farmers day (and not the good kind)

Yesterday morning the auger that goes to our wet bin had an apparent...issue. An explosive one. $900 later and they have a new shaft section. Between that and DEF issues, this year has gotten off to a rocky start! :bash2:

My thoughts exactly. Fine when it works, I guess, but when it doesn't, having a machine derated and having to limp back to the farm/road or even be stopped dead is incredibly stupid :bash2: At least the government made companies put a 5 year warranty on the DEF system so this is alls till covered under warranty.

It is, but could have been worse; the operator was standing pretty close to the area when it let loose. I wonder if he had to change his britches afterwards, I never asked :biggrin2:

I'm not sure what happened, to be honest. The auger is set up the same way it has been for several years now. Either way, not a cheap fix in that one.

No. Those double cardian joint parts are not cheap at all. $900 seems a bit steep, but I don't know where you got the parts, or what you bought.

I'm not sure where they got the part from as I didn't get in until after my normal "8-5" job that day, but not too local if I recall what the boss said. I think he was just of the mindset "we aren't getting the crop out of the field without this part, so get it, replace it, and move on". He doesn't like sitting still :biggrin2:

Exactly what kind of U-joint is that? Looks like nothing I have ever used, and the price is either highway robbery or verifies it is being way different than any thing here.:bigthink:

I'm guessing it's just the angle or lighting that is playing a trick on your eyes. I'll try to snap a better picture of it when I can.:beerchug:
