Peco 20 boot

Over the summer I bought a used Peco 20 lawn vacuum that I can pull with my 105. However the cast iron boot that attaches to the mower deck doesn't appear to be a tight fit, and I feel like there is supposed to be some kind of bracket that goes with it (There are bolt holes on the boot, but I feel like Peco owners did not have to drill into their mower decks). I have a 42-inch, three-blade IH deck. I've emailed Peco and was told they have two boots: One will fit a discharge opening of 16 inches wide and six inches high, and the other is 21 inches wide and eight inches high. However, neither of those match my discharge opening whatsoever. I was hoping someone has a similar model and can attach some pictures on how it is going to look. I am going to call Peco, but before I do I would like to be better informed by the folks on this board. Maybe I am missing something or am measuring something wrong. I can upload pictures if need be. Thanks, Brian

Here are some pictures of my setup. The opening of my deck is 10 inches wide and about six inches high. The boot does fit but it's not a good fit. Is there supposed to be a bracket?

Your going to have to drill some holes. Part of the whole "aftermarket" thing.

Peco may be helpful, but I doubt they will even have literature that the lady on the other end can read to tell you how to mount it to your "old" lawn tractor.

Probably going to have to make it yourself. Maybe someone here will have some pics of one on that deck. Looks to me like it's a boot for the newer style decks.

I have the correct one for that deck. The one I have is aluminum and is made to the exact contours of the old triangle decks and slides right over and bolts on. I had to modify mine to fit on the 48 triangle as the opening is the same design but wider so it wouldn't fit. It will however fit right over the 42. Picture shown is it modded to go on the end of the 48 but like I said it will fit right over the 42 chute.

Guys, thanks. Alvy, is there any chance that a part number exists on that aluminum chute? I feel like my best chance to use this would be to make some kind of a bracket like you did to get it to fit. Getting one from PECO would not seem to work, as 16 inches would be much too wide and I would be up the same creek.

I can look. I store the peco and others at a friends house. Like I said, the one pictured fits perfect on a 42 triangle. I used some heavier gauge sheet metal to adapt it to the 48" detachable chute as they were the same and wouldn't over lap. Works well, you must have a later model I'm thinking
