Help? 129 PTO Clutch linkage

Hello everyone. I had just recently bought a Cub 129 off a guy locally for $80. It didn't run at the time and he stated that the pto clutch wouldn't disengage. Well the float needle in the carb was stuck. Freed that up and runs beautiful. Well I tore into the clutch and rebuilt it and reinstalled back onto the tractor. One thing to note is the bearing didn't sit flush on the shaft due to a snap ring so I removed the snap ring to make it sit flush. I tore the whole pto engagement lever out and reinstalled it. Now my issue is the linkage running from the rock-shaft to the engagement lever is about 2 inches too short. And I put everything back together how it came off. :bash2: I am so frustrated with this thing. I can't figure out what happened. So I figured the best place to ask for help is OCC. so I registered an account and here I am. Can anyone help or ran into this problem. :bash2:
Still figuring out how to post images.

It would make sense that the PO had the issue of it not disengaging if the rod was too short and now you have the same issue. There's not much to it as you have already seen. Maybe one of the rods was shortened or replaced with the wrong one, here's the parts list.
