Lowboy vs cub cadet 125

Ok guys I have a 125 and have a chance to trade it for a 154 lowboy. Good idea? The lowboy runs but needs a deck belt and the clutch adjusted. Any thoughts are appreciated.

drglinski 07-20-2017 08:46 PM

NOPE.

I wouldn't do it.

Then again, I have no desire to own a lo boy. Common problems include the clutch....they always annoyed me that the steering wheel isn't centered on the dash (yeah I know the CC aren't centered either but they aren't as extreme).

Unless you REALLY want a loboy I would keep the trusty 125.

Keep the 125.

If you want a Lo-Boy that's fine..... but not in trade for a 125. Unless you have other Cubs, then it's ok. I have a Lo-Boy. Even has 3pt hitch, and I rarely use it. (The tractor.) Too big for mowing, too small to use as a tractor. I'd gladly sell it.

I find 125's quite often for sale for around $200-$300, but when I find a lo-boy for sale, it is usually for $1000+. So if you want to flip it for profit, sure. You could make several hundred dollars. However, if you want utility, then probably not.

what year Low boy? though it would be way too big for my puny yard, I have occasionally thought about getting a red one, model was 184 or 185 something like that.... but yeah... they sure hold their value.
buddy of mine had a later model yellow low boy and sold it due to lack of power steering... wimp.

Not around here. I can't hardly give mine away. For what some people claim to see them sell for, I should be able to trade it even up for a diesel super! But, I couldn't even get $1500 out of it. Best offer I got was like $1200. Nope. I'll keep it for that. Surely I can get a dealer to give me at least that much on trade. :bash2:

I would do it. But I want one, and a Farmall cub too
Plus if you did you could see how many people notice cause a 154 and a 125 look alike! At least from the front.

I had one once the clutch was expensive to repair and the tractor was hard to sell

J-Mech 07-21-2017 06:46 PM

Everyone who says the clutches are expensive doesn’t know where to buy parts at.
