782 power steering

After getting used to the power steering on my Supers I sure would like to put P/S on my 782. I'm pretty sure there is a thread on here about doing just that.. But I can't seem to find it. Or if anyone has a list of parts I should be hunting please let me know.. I'm thinking I need the parts from an 82 series super.. I know the rear cylinder bracket is different on the GT's.. Any help appreciated.. I'd like to buy all the parts as I can find them and have everything in hand before I start the conversion.. Thanks:beerchug:

Can't help you out Jay, but wish you luck in the conversion anyway.:beerchug:
BUT, I can tell you, if you want easier steering, and don't want to go through the "conversion", buy a set of the Firestone tri ribs, makes a big improvement.
Hey, I think Tom, farmall fred did a power steering conversion. I THINK SO anyway...:bigthink:

That, and do a Steering Column upgrade. See.... http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=4631

I agree with Todd, I have the Firestone on my 1211 and it steers with one finger.

One of my 782's has a setup from a 2072 super GT ( I bought it that way)
The other 782, I hung a super steer cyclops axle under it, a column from a 318 Deere and a cyl from a 345 Deere.
I made my own hyd lines from 3/8 brake line.
Did the same setup for my 1650.
They are quick to turn, and a pinky finger operation. (1-3/4 turn, Left to right.)
(super steer axles, raise the front of the tractor just shy of 2") FWIW.
Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.:beerchug:

Just sell the 782 and replace it with something with PS. 1864's are sweet!:biggrin2:

Easiest with a GT donor(1864 or similar). Brackets work better. Few guys by me have done the PS to their 782d's.
I am thinking of doing it to my 782 also. 350-400$ is what the local cub guy said for the whole setup.

Sam,

I sat on this 782 in 1980 in the showroom at the local IH dealer... I was 9 years old.. I begged dad for a "RED" one.. he said we had to wear the yellow 1450 out first.. A friend of ours bought the red 782 a few days later.. we are still trying to wear out the 1450 but I did manage to buy the same tractor from the friends family a few years back... So i can't ever sell that one!!:biggrin2:

I have grown to like the cyclops tractors though! I wouldn't be opposed to another one!!:beerchug:

Thanks Terry! That does make more sense to use stuff made for the shorter GT frame!:beerchug:

Thanks guys for the suggestions on the Tri-ribs... I may give that a try! Always good to hear first hand experience!!:beerchug::beerchug:
