147 fan shroud, 149 Not?
So why doesnt the 149 have a fan shroud like the 147?. I had the cover off and was adjusting the neutral cam and thought, wow Im close to the fan. The hydraulic lift if put on wrong will actually hit the fan. BTDT. LOL. So has anyone put one on their 149? I know its close and maybe thats why it doesnt have one. Ive also seen where the 147 rubs. Maybe it restricts the airflow? Just thinking since my parts for my pto havent arrived yet..Im bench racing.

A 147 is a narrow frame. All narrow frames are design to have a cover like on your 147.
A 149 is a wide frame. If you look below the gas tank you will see side shields on my Son's 86. http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...e/86/86134.jpg This is just a guess....IH change the design to help with cooling and looks. |
Sorry, I was talking about the hydro fan on my 149, but nice tractor and I see what your talking about. Sharp!!:bigthink:

RFrank: Don't know why, but if I had to guess, I'd say that someone at the Louisville Cub Cadet plant probably got an award for a cost reduction suggestion by eliminating the fan shroud.
