K161 - Cub 72
So here's my story.... I was having some issues keeping my "new" Cub 72 running smooth so I cleaned / rebuilt carb. Then reinstalled and adjusted according to the manual I found on this site. (Issue I was having was it would turn over and fire up, running little while they stall out and die. Maybe run 10 sec, maybe 5 min, then die.)
After carb clean/rebuild & re-install .... Now it only fires with quick mist of starter fluid or carb cleaner, but as soon as it fires and turns over, it dies out. Without starter fluid it wont fire and turn over, just chugs and chugs and chugs forever until I kill the battery lol. (Like if you had a flooded engine) Some of the things I've already done .... -Installed new spark plug, it could use a new spark plug wire but it still works. -Adjusted the points but have not cleaned yet I'm no expert, I know enough to be dangerous LOL. Any advice would be great! |

I agree you have a fuel problem, pull the fuel line from the carb to make sure you have good flow from the tank.

Thanks guys , that's sorta what I was thinking too. Do you have any pics of the fuel line set up on a cub 70/100 or would there be anything on this site I could reference. I would like to make sure I'm setting it up correctly. Thank you!

Hose runs from the sediment bowl to the carb. Originally it had a metal line instead of a hose. I don't understand how you could possible screw that up.... The fuel line might be 6" long if you have to route it even a little odd. Just use rubber. Don't need metal.

When you hit the starter button or key, does the engine rotate? Then it IS "turning over"....if it doesn't "turn over" then you have a bad starter, battery or switch or a locked up engine. that phrase has NOTHING to do with whether the engine fires up or starts/runs! "turning over" means just that.... nothing more. |
Ok thanks for the info.
