Favorite Siphon Pump?
Hello, folks. I have a LTX 1050 with the 310-0510 transaxle, and I'm getting ready to change the oil out of there. The fill hole is pretty small so I know a hand pump is required. I was just curious as to which ones you guys preferred, or have had good luck with.
Thanks in advance, Jeff. :American Flag 1: |
I've always had the best luck just taking the drain plug out and draining it into a pan. Seemed a lot easier than sucking it out. Do you have a drain pan?
Here's a copy of the section of the manual that deals with the hydrostat. Page number 81 deals with draining and refilling: http://service.mtdproducts.com/Train..._ch5_hydro.pdf |
Well, shoot. Everything I've read prior to the link you provided, stated I would have to siphon it out. I will look when I get home tonight and do some verifying. Thanks for the reply.

"NOTE: If the transaxle does not have a drain plug: • The fluid may be siphoned out or the transaxle may be removed from the tractor and drained through the fill port." Here is a link to service manual for your hydro. Doesn't look like it has a drain plug. http://www.hydro-gear.com/23fe04618d...s/310-0510.pdf See page 10. |
Yeah, I end up finding that service manual you provided the link to. I also picked up a siphon pump at Tractor Supply. It ended up doing the job easily. Thanks for the insight guys. :beerchug:
