Downstop adjustment rod?

The downstop adjustment rod on this cyclops seems to have a nut on the end of it that keeps it from unscrewing all the way out of the clevis its in. It just turns, doesn't unscrew. Is it peened on there so it wont come off at all, or is it just stripped? I can't figure out how to get it off to remove the rod.

Foggy memory says it's left handed threads. Maybe not. Mind is getting forgetful.

I had the same issue, the threads were stripped. It IS left hand thread. I had to cut the rod to remove it. I had another rod off another Super.
I was going to reuse the old rod by welding it back together. Then cut the stripped nut off, cross drill where the nut was and put a cotter pin and washer on in place of the nut.
