IH 782 Rear end / tranny leaks
 

I'm a new IH 782 owner trying to fix a few leak issues. I noticed a hydraulic oil leak coming from the rear end / tranny. I replaced the rear cover gasket, making sure the rear plate was flat and there were no burrs on the cast iron rear end mounting surface. I used RTV on the mounting bolts and torqued them properly. The rear end still leaked. I noticed that the transmission was wet in the filter area. I replaced the filter and bypass line, thinking that the fitting was leaking. The rear end / tranny still leaks! Is there another common leaking spot I should check? I don't believe the rear cover is leaking again. I think there is a leak in the tranny area and the oil is running down and dripping off the bottom of the rear cover, but I'm not 100% sure. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You will need to check the relief valves and the cork gasket between the Hydro and the rear end. Remove the tunnel cover and observe where it's coming from.

Any leaks from the charge pump lip seal?

Might be time to pull the seat off and the fender pan off if you have not already. Then post some pictures.

I would remove the fenders and degrease and pressure wash the rear end, being clean will help pinpoint the leak but it is most likely the cork gasket or the relief valves.

what they all said. I had the same problem on my 1450. I bit the bullet and tore it down and replaced the cork gasket another thing to check is if your tractor has internal brakes, check for a leak in that area if you suspect one while you have it down is to replace the o-ring.

Landon as others have stated you have to pressure wash thoroughly top to bottom after removing fenders to identify any leaks.
