Adding analog tach to V-Twin

How hard would it be to add an analog tach to my 2084? I have found a few digital tachs, but I have a picture of the older tractors with the big tachometer as the main gauge in my head and think it would look a lot more fitting.

I was thinking a diesel tach with a magnetic pickup could be retrofitted without a ton of effort, but it would be nice to know what others have done.

Thanks

I think the diesel tach would probably be the easiest. Just curious where you would mount the sensor? I guess you could mount it in the blower housing somehow.

Just a thought. You might be able to use one of the inductive wire pickups, like the digital ones use, and an Arduino to do the math and use any tach you want.

I could mount it pretty much anywhere that it would see the flywheel magnet. After pricing them out though, the tiny tach doesn't seem too bad. At least I could mount it over the non-functioning hour meter
