Yellow/Black Starter Generators --HUH?
I keep seeing pictures of the old Cubs having both yellow and black SGs.
What's the story of one Cub having a black S/G while another Cub has a yellow S/G. What am I not seeing? Amps/voltage output, CW vs CCW, S/G already installed on assembly line and painter saying "F-IT, I'll show them" with the paint spray. Help me learn. Del |
They rolled out of the factory yeller, and replacements were black.

The 1x8, 1x9 series is when they started using the black starter gens and previous NF models were yellow.

I've heard also that the late serial NF's at the end of the run may have had them come black as well but can't verify this

I dug into my Library of Cub Cadet Literature and looked at some old brochures of the 1x8/9 series. I see the S/G in both colors (Yellow and Black).
NOW.....it has been known, that IH colored and doctored up their brochures for eye appeal. |
my 149 is yellow and all original so..

I've always understood that Delco Remy supplied them black and Cub Cadet painted them yellow with the engines... sometime in the late 60's Cub Cadet quit painting them and started installing them black as supplied...
