1963 Original

A few months ago I was able to purchase my first complete running Original for $600 off Craigslist. I was extremely lucky to be the 3rd owner of this. The first owner bought it with the lights, fenders, #1 cart, mower deck, and blade. The owners manual with documentation came with it (no price sheet). The second owner bought it in 2002 from the original owner's family, storing it inside and didn't use it. When I bought it, it needed some minor adjustments with the governor and throttle cable. It runs great and cuts grass fantastic.

When using the tractor I've noticed there is not much difference in ground speed between 1st and 2nd gear. Is this normal? There is quite a difference between 2nd and 3rd. Having never used an original before any suggestions would be welcome. It seems clutch adjustment and replacement if needed is rather difficult from reading some of the posts.

Sorry for the sideways pictures. I can't get them to post the correct way, :bash2:

Great deal. Looks good. Clutch adjustment or replacement isn't bad at all. Ask us and we will point you in the right direction

All of the Originals have that speed difference in between the low and high gears. I usually take off in 2nd. You got a really great deal on your Cub. It looks like a great one to do a Face Lift on.:beerchug::biggrin2::beerchug: I was able to fix a couple of your pics.

Looks like a nice untouched machine! Good deal.

Another. It has the old non trip blade? And headlights and the grote light. That's 400.00 right there? Then the Fenders. Do you know the serial number?

Ronnie, I'm pretty sure I see a subframe under the plow and the blade looks like a regular 42" blade making it a trip blade. The non-trip plows bolted only to the front end and had a flatter funny looking blade.
