Anyone put an Onan E140 into a 682/782?

I have a 682 that I am putting a hydro lift cyl on. (Almost making it a 782).

Has anyone taken the Kohler kt17 series one out and put an Onan E140 from a 2145? I already understand that I am going down one cylinder, I am wondering if it will fit with little modification to the frame/body/etc. I also know the wiring is different, which I am also fine with. (I am good with wiring and have rewired a few mowers already.)

I am not a welder so large metal modifications maybe turn this project around.

Thanks for the info!

I've never seen it done but see no reason it wouldn't work. You will be giving up about 4 HP.

Not terribly worried about the hp loss, I am not running a huge deck and the hydro should be fine with this power also?

I am very interested to see size in relation to drive shaft length and where the belt would come up for the PTO to make sure I get the correct angles.

Getting excited about this engine swap!

Before you pull the old engine you should mark the frame on each side where the belt rides on the pto, this will make it easier to line up the new engine in the correct place.

Your going to be on your own with this one. I suggest that you locate the PTO first and work backwards from that point. Jeff in PA can make a custom drive shaft for you once you know how long it needs to be.
